Information about Visual Autorun
Last modified 9 March 2009
Visual Autorun has been discontinued.
We've discontinued Visual Autorun because upcoming changes to the way Microsoft Windows means we would have to make significant changes to the way Visual Autorun works. Unfortunately, our Visual Autorun customer base is not large enough to support the investment this would require.
Alternative Solutions
We recognize that this is a large inconvenience for our Visual Autorun user and we apologize. We've written this page to explain how you can move your CD interface from Visual Autorun.
Here is our recommended migration strategy:
CD Menu: There are a variety of applications available to design disc menus. We are unable to endorse a particular product.
Start File: If you are starting an application (.exe), you may directly write an 'autorun.ini' file using Notepad. See this Wikipedia article for details.
Starting from Windows Me or 2000, you can also start other file types using the shellexecute command in the autorun.ini file.
Advanced features, such as online viewer checking, splash screens and multimedia are not available using this method and would require additional software. We are not aware of any particular product that duplicates Visual Autorun's functionality in this regard.
Slideshow: There is a variety of applications available for this purpose. As with CD menu designers, we are unable to endorse a particular product.
