How to create and use folder icons
Windows XP and Vista supports custom icons for your folders. Using Pixelshop, you can customize the appearance of your different folders. For example, you can have folder icons for your Picture folder, your Music folder, your Documents folder and so on.
Pixelshop's Create a Folder Icon tool allows you to quickly create these icons from an existing picture.

What is a folder icon?

A folder icon is a custom icon for your folder. Having a special allows to pick it out quicker from a group of icons, and it also has aesthetic functions.
Pixelshop has a built-in tool for creating, using, and removing folder icons. Read on to find out more
Folder icons and Pixelshop
It’s easy to create completely custom folder icons with Pixelshop.
First, start Pixelshop. On the Welcome screen, click Create a Folder Icon. Click Next on the dialog that appears.

Here’s where you select the image (or icon) you want to create a folder from. If you’re using an icon, please note that only the first icon in the file will be loaded.
If you’re using an image with a mask, Pixelshop will automatically detect this. However, you can always change this by use the settings at the bottom of the dialog. Click Next.

You’re now shown a preview of your icon. Pixelshop will have automatically set the positioning/size/rotation settings; however, just click Edit if you want to adjust these. When you’re done, click Finish.
That’s all! You’ve just made a Windows XP folder icon. All you need to do is Save it (click File->Save As)
Using your folder icon
To set a folder to use your icon, click File->Set Folder icon (first save your icon).

To use you folder icon, just click Browse, and then select the folder you want to use. Pixelshop has already selected the icon you’re currently working on, however, if you want to use a different icon, just click Browse to select your icon.
Click Set Icon to save the icon to the folder. To remove the folder’s current icon (and set it to the default icon), click Remove Icon.
